Patrick will lead us through a lab using SCRtool.
If you have a Windows laptop that you will be bringing to class, please install the SCRtool on it. You will need to get a copy of the installer from Patrick.
NEW: You should also get a copy of happy_yu.ssl and microwave.ssl.
STEPS FOR INSTALLING SCRTOOL
These instructions presume that you are using Windows XP, have the Java 1.4 runtime on your machine, and have the runtime’s bin directory in your path.
- Acquire scrinstallerMar2006.jar from me.
- At the command prompt, invoke the Java runtime on the contents of the scrinstallerMar2006.jar archive:
java –jar scrinstallerMar2006.jar
This will start the SCRtool installer. - Follow the SCRtool Installer’s directions to install SCRtool on your machine.
- The installer will neither install an icon for SCRtool nor associate SCRtool specifications with SCRtool.exe. You can make an icon if you like, but it will not be necessary for this lab.
- Make sure that SCRtool is properly installed by launching it. (If you don't install an icon for it, you’ll need too launch it by opening the c:\program files\scrtool directory and double-clicking on scrtool.exe.) You’ll know that it is working if, after launching it, you see a window like this one:
If you have any difficulty with installing SCRtool, please let me know and I will attempt to help you.
